My two cents

Hmmmm..... MY FAVORITE PAINTER IS Vincent Van Gogh........ I love his amazing touches of art....yet when I think of Picasso.....it amazes me to know that these two artists is like the sun and the moon..... Picasso is like the sun..the world shined upon him endless amounts of awards....love of sunshine...from day one till his dying day... However...like the darkness surrounding the moon Vincent Van Gogh....never felt...the heated amounts of love bestowed upon the sun.... Yet the moon continually rise regularly for a reason it had a job to do...so did Vincent Van Gogh.....With this being said....I have to say....Like Picasso in the arts..certain people...( particular genders or NATIONALITIES will feel the love of awards from here till hell freezes over) yet some may control the why or how come....many just are here living their lives and providing art for the masses.....While others will ( like Vincent Van Gogh ) will provide people with stirring and moving portraits that will stay in our minds...dig into our souls...yet up lift our hearts....yet from an awards point of view like the moon will be surrounded by darkness.....and receive very little if any materialized sort of recognition. Basically just like Vincent Van Gogh did in his life time. Although I see what Jada Pickett Smith is saying......I have to say....Life in the art world...is not about getting an award from the main stream...but its about putting  out work ....that matters....Every year or two there has been a complaint ( in the 39 years I have lived on this earth)....about not enough people of a certain race...( black, Hispanic, Indian...it can go on)...well begging a group of people to throw a chip in our direction is not necessary... And crying to the media won't change a thing... Just do the work and do what Greta Garbo and others did when it came to awards or the media..ignore them...they may come to you..( still ignore them) ..The experience Hattie McDaniel received when it came to ~Gone with the Wind ~ Should have told you from day one...its just not worth it...end of story.... Gordon Parks gave the world ~ the learning tree ~ among many other things in the art world....but the fact he didn't receive countless awards....does not mean it was a wasted life.... Thus the same can be said about Vincent van Gogh....period..
